Mothers Day Out (opinion/poll)
Ok so I put my 16 month old son in a mothers day out program one day a week is for 4.5 - 5 hours. He does great in the morning doesn't cry when dropping off, eats his lunch and even naps BUT when he wakes from his nap around 1ish he cries until I pick him up 
He has never been without me (which is one of the main reasons I put him in) its killing me and everyone says its harder because he's only there 1 day a week.
There is another opening the next day so do I put him in 2 consecutive days a week?

Can you pick him up a little earlier as maybe it is a phase he is going through when he wakes up in the strange place without mommy.

I say 2 days. As a daycare mom I was told by many that one day is hard as it takes them forever to adjust and when they do then they are away for such a long period of time then they have to adjust all over again.

I think u should do two days but also pick him up when he wakes up abd over the next month or two make it longer and longer.

He might be genuinely scared or miss you. He is so young that he doesn't understand the separation. Unless you have something you really need to do, then what's the point. You said it's killing you, so go with your gut. Don't listen to others.

I agree. I think he's young to be put into a program like this, unless you HAD to. I think you should stop & try again when he's older and can understand that you're coming back to get him later.

This make it gradual. He is young but I don't think you should give up after 1 week. It's just new

I also agree. Maybe you can find sme sort of class that's only an hour or 2 or where you are just outside the room.

Thanks everyone! Its amazing how when I put my daughter into a full day of daycare 2 days a week I never blinked (I also had no choice)
Now that I have a choice its soo much harder. We moved oos and have no one around so my son has never been without me. Which is one reason I feel he needs this. I do think Im going to do the 2 days a week but I will be picking him up earlier. Im going to try and time it so Im there when he wakes up, then each day push it 5 mins. If he was upset the whole day I would pull him but he loves it...doesn't cry when I drop him off, plays nice, eats and naps
