Mother's Day

What is everyone doing for Mother's Day?
I know it's a month away but I'm seeing restaurants advertising brunches.

Has anyone done the brunch at the Milleridge? It says they also have outdoor entertainment. I'm wondering how that is and if my 3 year old would enjoy it. I always seem to have a boring and disappointing Mother's Day sitting around my mother in laws house and I want to do something else this year.

Re: Mother's Day

We are going to probably do the Mothers Day cruise in NYC. I am flying back from Charlotte that morning. Has anyone ever did that? Is it nice and worth the $$?

I want to do nothing. Sleep in, not have to cook or clean, get takeout for dinner.

I can tell you the last thing I want to do is eat in a restaurant with a squirmy toddler who refuses to eat.

Same! Unless DH is sending me out to eat with my mom or MIL without DD, no thanks!

Having our families over. Easier then running around trying to see everyone. Planning on having DH do all the work or catering it in Chat Icon

That sounds awesome but my sister loves Mather’s day so I let her have it and do whatever she wants.

I’m so bad that I never know when it is, I actually made plans to go to Charlotte that weekend. My sister reminded me, we decided to fly and come back early on Sunday since she will have my son.

Re: Mother's Day

I have no clue...it's always an ordeal because my Birthday usually falls on or close to it. This year its ON my actual Birthday. My parents usually have a cake for me at their house since we typically go there for Mother's day. I never actually get to do anything for my Birthday or celebrate it other than on Mother's day no matter when it falls. Kinda stinks. LOL.
I'd love to just go to the gym in the AM and then go for a mani pedi. Chat Icon

Re: Mother's Day

My parents are hosting and my grandmother and aunt/uncle will be there and it’ll probably be a barbecue. Gotta say though, I’m not really feeling it this year since I’ll be close to my due date and the idea of spending it as a relaxed day with my husband and son since it’ll be one of the last weekends before it’s the FOUR of us, is so much more appealing. I might mention something.

We do the North Fork every year. It’s gotten more and more busy and the no food policy killed our picnic lunch. But we usually hit up Harbes Farm, let DS have a blast, then head to one or two wineries. We did Lavender by the Bay one year, Greenport Village another. It makes for a really nice day.

I think Ospreys Dominion still allows food.

We haven’t gone to that one but if u wanna check out other places, we’ve gone to Woodbury CC, and Watermill. Both were nice with good food, Woodbury had a bigger garden so it was nice to walk around when we had ds1. But I gotta be honest, even though I absolutely love spending time with my family, I’d love to just spend one mother’s day where I don’t have to worry about getting my little ones ready, make sure we (my whole family) are not running late, dealing with the occasional tantrum or someone screaming or running, not having to rush getting ready, etc! none of that! Last year I was the last person to get ready and because we were already running late, I didn’t even have time to blow dry my hair so I had to put it up in a bun. While these things wouldn’t usually bother me, this specific day...isn’t it suppose to be a day for the mother??

Mother's Day

Brunch at the Milleridge Inn on Mother’s Day is nice.
The food is good but not great. They usually have a pony ride,
Balloon animals and music in the village area. It is definitely better than sitting in the house.

Thanks! That's good to know. It wasn't like we were bringing anything huge for lunch either, just cheeses and meats and grapes, things like that.

Thanks! Yes this definitely sounds better than sitting in the house on what is hopefully a nice weather day. My son loves going out to restaurants and interacting with people so this could be fun.
