Mortgage Question

Do you think its better to go to the source of funding ie. the bank instead of using a broker, if its a refinance, your credit is excellent and you kind of know what to expect as you have been around the block once before - with a broker the first time?

TIA

Re: Mortgage Question

Didn't do refinancing but we used a broker for our first (only) house.

This might be moved to the home board so look for it there later.

Re: Mortgage Question

We dealt with a bank and I'd rather deal with a corporation (international or national) with my finances, so that I know my mortgage can never be sold or transferred, and I can go to the facility whenever I have questions.

Re: Mortgage Question

I think it depends on how much legwork you want to do yourself. If you have time to do research on different banks, than go with a bank, but if you are short on time and want someone to do that work for you - then go with a broker. Also sometimes brokers know of "deals" that the general public may not get a chance to hear about.

Re: Mortgage Question

We used a broker (wasn't a re-fi though) for our mortgage and he was great! We got a really good rate through him and we were very happy.
