More than one Dr during pregnancy?
So I have my first official Dr. appt in about 2 weeks. I noticed that it is not with the Dr. I wanted. I called the office today and asked if I could make Dr. X my primary Dr. and the receptionist said that there is no primary Dr. There are two Dr.s and two midwives which I will alternate throughout my pregnancy. Does this seem right? I always thought once you're pregnant you have one Dr. that sees you throughout your pregnancy.

Usually in offices with multiple Drs (mine has quite a few) its normal to see them all on a rotating basis throughout your pregnancy so you become familiar with all of them, that way whoever is on call and delivers you, is not a Dr you are meeting for the first time.

Yes, this is how my office does it too. You see all the doctors.

the practice i go to has two main docs, and one that covers for them.. but i have seen both of them interchangeably, even though I'm listed as "xyz" patient in the system.

That's the norm for places with more than one person who delivers. It makes sense because when you go into labor, you dont know who will be on call and who will deliver you. So it's nice to get to see and know ALL of the doctors in the practice.
I only see one dr because he is the only one who delivers at the practice.

Yes, this is why. I wasn't sold on the idea at first either. I liked the idea of one doctor. But, in the end, I was SUPER glad that I met both and wound up liking the "other" doc even more
