More than 1 party?

Anyone else book a party place for their LO's birthday to make it simple and wind up extending the invite for family and other close friends to come to your house for more food and drinks? Chat Icon

Just having his classmates at the party place then since his family isn't local we'll have them over, my family and local friends that weren't invited to the party place. I don't really mention his bday bc he doesn't need presents, but we just like to entertain so figured since we're grilling and having drinks might as well have more people over.

We always have a kids party at a place and then family over on their actual birthday for dinner and cake.

DS's birthday is during the week and my IL's are over an hour away. It's not a bad drive, but one they wouldn't take the week. My MIL invited a friends from Boston to come in that weekend since they know the boys well so wanted to do a bit more for guests then figured I'd invite my local, close friends in the area for the kids to play, have some drinks and just keep the party going. Just funny when you try to save I'll wind up spending more for everyone to come over. Eh, it's once a year so I'm not complaining. Although we do love to entertain in the summer.

Re: More than 1 party?

I usually have a party at home with friends the weekend around their birthday then have immediate family over on their actual birthday for pizza and cake.

This year I feel like I'm having 3 parties! lol
We are doing a play place with friends, then having BIL, SIL and our niece over that night for dinner and cake, and then my immediate family over on her birthday during the week. On top of that I have to make cupcakes for her to bring to school! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yep, I always have two...the kids in the early afternoon and then the family in the late afternoon. Even though I have 7 nieces and nephews of my kids' ages, they don't come to the friend party, only the family one.

This year for my DD's 7th, we're having a bowling party for friends, then a Kentucky Derby party for family...fun!
