More afraid of things as he gets older
As a baby he liked anything! Swings, stuffed animals that sing and dance, floating in the pool, etc.
he's 2 now and much more aware. He wouldn't let me put him in the swings when I tried last weekend and he hates the pool floats and being confined. He LOVES the pool, but wants to be on his own. We put on a swimmy type vest and hold him, but he won't even let us rest and put him in a cool car float or a truck one. He also hates the stuffed animals that sing and dance and certain new toys. HE got a boat for the tub and he kept saying "NO, OUT!" When we tried to put it in. Normal?

Very normal. DS is now scared of our vacuum. 6 months ago the kid would fight with us about who was going to clean with it.
He also learned the word 'scared'. I think from maybe a scary part in a movie. So he'll tell me "I scared" at the silliest things.

Re: More afraid of things as he gets older
I was starting to wonder this too. DS total dare devil, smiled and loved anyone that would smile at him, jumped into things without looking, falling and doing it again.
Lately, he is def more aware (almost 15m) if he shes a stranger he says "man!" and hides behind me.
He's now afraid to touch bugs, ants, etc, at 12m he was eating them! I don't know if he's so much as afraid but not sure about them, watches them very carefully without touching.
He still walks up and down stairs, climbs on the top kitchen tables, but if I say "its dangerous" he's comes running to me in fear. Its good in a way, I can just tell him I don't want him playing with wires/etc, because they can be dangerous. But I don't know if its normal for him to get so fearful over just the thought of it being dangerous.
He's very cautious around people now, he doesn't just trust everyone. He used to just jump in anyones arms for a hug, not so much anymore.
I don't know what this is about, but I was a very shy, careful kid, but I was always a shy kid. He seems to have morphed in the past month.

Ian is the same exact way. he's such a scaredie cat. im just thinking its the age. hes more aware and trying to figure out what he likes and doesnt. if he hears the hair dryer he flips out. then once its off he'll say "no more" for the next hour!
