 | Moms with Dogs sort of funny question Ok, so Maggie is a wonderful dog, but she is a pig She is constantly trying to steal Christopher's food and we yell at her constantly. But she stays away until he is done for hte most part.
Our current problem is that Christopher has learned how to share and now holds out his waffle, cookie, etc to her and she runs away with it and then he gets upset

And I can't REALLY get that mad at the dog, b/c he is giving it to her, so how should I handle this?

 | Re: Moms with Dogs sort of funny question Same here! I just let her be upset for a little while, so maybe she will realize the consequences of her actions! Message edited 4/5/2008 9:27:14 AM. |

 | Re: Moms with Dogs sort of funny question Peanut has gained at least 10 pounds since we've been feeding Bella solids You saw how she was with Maggie!!! She does the same with Peanut!
But lately, she does the fake out...she'll pretend she's giving you or the dog something and then pull it back to her and start laughing.

 (it is rather cute!!)

I usually yell at the dog
and now he seems to wait until she's done snacking and THEN he'll go over and get the crumbs. |

 | Re: Moms with Dogs sort of funny question DS has not started doing this yet, but I have my dogs trained to follow a "leave it" command. So I have been practicing with them and with their treats. DH & I usually have some sort of dog treat in reach so when DS starts doing this, we'll do the leave it command and then reward them with a dog treat.
 sounds good on paper right?

 | Re: Moms with Dogs sort of funny question Bama in notorious for trying to steal Jackson's food, and Jackson has also started to think that sharing with him sometimes is ok! (probably because he sees me giving Bama treats). So when Jackson is eating, we tell Bama to go in his crate. Sometimes he'll go in there on his own, but he'll usually try to sneak out and next thing I know, he's crouching next to the high chair just waiting for something to drop
