When I was home with DD#1 she was modeling but the schedule was brutal--calls at 9am to tell you that there is a go see at 12 noon or that DC was requested the same day etc. I couldnt keep up and I was a SAHM.

With DD#2 we have been approached already but I am currently FTWM. Any working moms have kids that model--how do you juggle and can you? We have a great agent and she would love us to give it a go but I keep saying no cause I am scared of the time constraints but it would be great money for DD's college fundChat Icon

It's like you're in my head! It would be great for college money and Lily loves the camera....and people seem to love her - yesterday we were ata craft fair, and people kept stopping me to tell me how cute she is....
But I work fulltime, as does my husband and it seems like it takes so much time, on such short notice.
Is it possible to do while working?

I am right there with you guys. We have been approached and I love the idea of having a little extra money to for DS college. DH wants us to do it, but we both work FT and have very hectic schedules, and now with #2 on the way I don't see it...

I keep telling DH if I get laid off I will get the permits and get his pictures circulating.

I am with all of you. My main concern is the travel to Manhattan, which seems inevitable in the business.

I am very interested in this too, I am a working mother and I have no idea (this is my first child) how to get her started and what agencies are legit.

Any info would be greatly appreciated if you have agencies you've used.

Unless your job is flexible its REALLY hard. My last job was really flexible so it wasn't a big deal. My new job isn't. I played hookey Friday morning so I could take her to the audition. I only did that bc it was for a national ad and I lucked out bc the shoot would up being on a Sunday. I honestly am not sure what I will do the next time they call. I usually get the calls for auditions the night before anytime from mid afternoon until 9pm!! And most of the time the shoots are the next day. It's A LOT of schlepping into NYC for 5 minute auditions...

Here's an example of what Friday's audition was like.

7:30 am - leave house and drive to my mom's
8:30 - train from Bayside to Penn
9am - appt for audition (we waited for 30 minutes)
9:30 - 9:35 - they look at her a take her picture
10:14 - take the train back to my moms
11:30 get back home

Out of curiosity............how did you even get started with having your DC model? What do you do? How do you get started? Emerson is tiny still (only 7weeks old) but I would be interested in some info. for down the road. Thanks!!!! Chat Icon
