I don't really know since she drinks it faster than we have it but if its ultra-pasteurized it will last a looonnnggg time. If it's just pasteurized the exp. dates were the same as regular milk. I would think you would now if it's bad. Like regular milk

ThanksChat Icon DS goes through his milk pretty quickly too. Thing is....my mom watches him 2x per week and my sister watches him 3x per week while I'm at work...so I buy a container of milk for both their homes. So the problem is if he's at my mom's on Monday and Wednesday....he's not back there again till the following Monday. And if there's milk left at her house I just want to be cautious as to whether or not its still good or if I should just toss it.... KWIM?

I would think it would be ok for a week. Is there a way to just buy 1 and bring it back and fourth. I know it's a pita but this way you are sure and not wasting so much. Chat Icon

I thoguht about this but its a 30 min ride between my house and her house...so I'm a little "iffy" about taking the milk in and out of the fridge constantly for that amount of time. I'm a bit of a worry wart Chat Icon

Its good for 7 days once opened, at least that's what i have been doing and its never been a problem. Sometimes it can go to 8 days...just smell and taste before serving if you are worried at the end of the week

Re: Moms who use organic milk

It usually lasts a week. I always smell/taste after 5 days to be certain. DS drinks a gallon in a week and I rarely have a problem with it going bad.

ETA: WHy not pour milk in a few sippy cups and pack in a cooler for the day? THis way you don't have wasted milk. I do that with daycare.
