Moms who BF after your LO's 1st teeth...
How did you handle the biting!?! So far DD only has her bottom teeth and they're not even all the way in yet, but sometimes she gets a good bite in as shes unlatching and it's hard not to jump and wake her up or scare her. I don't think it helps that she's teething and loves to bite down on anything she can get in her mouth. I really don't want to stop BFing yet, but not sure I can take this much longer. Now I cringe every time I start feeding her just waiting for her little teeth to chomp down, lol. Is it only going to get worse as she gets more teeth?

When he tried it the 1st couple of times, I unlatched him, and in a very firm voice I said "no biting". He has succeeded in biting 4 times in his life. DS is now 13 months.
There were a few other times, somehow I could tell he was about too, so I would unlatch him before he could, and would say "No biting".
But overall, I didn't really have a biter.

If she's biting when she unlatches, I would try to unlatch her with your finger before she has the chance. Sometimes when they're done eating and just hanging out that's when the biting happens so you just want to take them off once they're not really actively eating anymore.
Also, if she's teething you can give a frozen teether before a feeding and when switching sides. That helped DD when she was getting her first few teeth.

When DS bit me I would break his latch and firmly say no. If he bit again I ended the nursing session. It only took a few times for him to learn I meant no biting. He cut teeth at 4 months old and he was smart enough then to learn not to bite. He still nurses (2 days shy of 2 years old) with a full set if teeth, with no problems.

Same here, with both my boys. My first, I continued to nurse till he weaned at 15 months. My second is nearing 16 months now and still nursing him. No biting issues at all. I found they were more inclined to bite in the very beginning, as the teeth were working their way in, but not once they were in.
