Moms of boys - share your diaper tips!
I find changing Erik's diapers challenging. People say girls are harder to clean - I disagree!
Any tips?
How do YOU prevent a fountain show?
Do you position his penis a certain way to avoid leaks?

First of all, congrats!
Secondly, it's simple. in order to prevent getting squirted, once you remove the diaper, have a cold wipe ready and throw it right on the peepee. He won't pee on you and in the slim chance he does, it'll get absorbed!
Also, position the peepee DOWN, so he doesn't pee UP the front!

I usually put a baby wipe on top of his weewee when changing DS. It works most of the time. There was one episode where he peed and it hit the wipe and went dribbling down his leg instead...which is better than it spraying on his clothes

Congratulations on your baby boy!
Yeah, the wipes or any sort of cloth is good. I found DS did this more when he was younger, not sure if they get better control, or if he was cold cause it was winter. Anyway, he does it less now, though DH gets squirted frequently! Not sure why.

I found boys harder to clean....maybe that was b/c I was so used to girls..
Winkies down and I cover it with a wipe to prevent any geysers.

before taking off diaper #1, slide diaper #2 under his butt (and diaper #1). Undo diaper #1, slide it off and quickly cover said little winkie with diaper and fasten 1 side quickly, then adjust.
took a few weeks before the showers stopped

I keep a roll of paper towels in his room and when he gets his diaper changed I fold the towel and put it on his peesh.....hasn't been a problem, and actually I haven't had a pee pee shower in quite a while (knock on wood)

I dont have a boy but I have seen peepee teepee's (sp??) little cones you can put over them!

a friend of mine got me a pee pee tee pee for his wee wee. It worked in the beginning. It was a small wash cloth in the shape of a tee pee. Now I just use the wipe trick. Congrats and good luck

I just try to do it rather quickly. I get the new diaper ready then I take off the old one and wipe him and strap the new one on and adjust.
I don't cover him, I've had a few sprinkle accidents on the mat no problem.

At first I was getting sprinkled quite frequently but I really just try to do it quickly as above poster said. For me those pee pee tee pees were a waste...never really worked for me and I wouldn't recommend. As some of the above posters said if it takes a little while cover him with a wipe but if you are quick shouldn't be a problem.
Also, not sure if it happens with everyone but my guy ALWAYS seem to pee right before or after his bath, like clockwork, it can be hard to get the diaper on quick enough after his bath, even after five months....good luck and congrats!

I do the same exact thing. Putting the penis down really helps. The only problem is now he is pulling the wipe off his penis and he tries to put it in his moth so I have to take it away. The other day my DS peed on the wall.  I also sometimes put the front of the diaper down when I go to get the A&D so if he pees it goes in the diaper.

DH taught me to put a wipe over his little guy when he was changing him - I think the cold wipe would shock the pee pee to stay in until he was diapered!
