Moms of 2 year olds (or BTDT)- Birthday Related

What did you feel were the best gifts your dc received? My boys are going to be 2 in a few weeks and people keep asking me what they should get and I am just clueless and I hate to get things just to have them because I find them to be just a waste.

On a side note how do you feel about birthday registries?

DS is a summer baby so he got a bathing suit and towel.

Play doh set was a hit

Toy cash register

Gift card to Barnes and Noble- he loves books and it was nice to get ones we don't have

Elmo building set in a canister to make a sort of Lego type Elmo

I know my DS has tried to steal two boys wheeled backpacks at two different times in the past few weeks. So when SIL asked what he wanted for his 2nd birthday I said a wheeled backpack. (No idea what their official name is.)

He still likes his basket ball net and baseball set as well as his bubble lawn mower and ride on car that he received for Hanukkah.
