Mommy and Me
Besides Mommy and Me Yoga, which i'm not interested in, what else does Mommy and me offer. I've either seen Yoga or classes with no description besides "Mommy and Me".
So, what is it? What do you do there? How old is your DC?
DD is 6 months old. I'd like to get involved in some classes to give us something to do and be around other mommies and babies. Are there any other options with a DD who is so young?

Mommy and Me
A lot of places offer Mommy and Me type programs - it's basically a class led by an instructor where the parent participates with the baby.
My Gym, Little Gym and Gymboree offer "gym" classes at that age and have gotten good reviews from those I know who have done them.

Thanks. I was wondering what the instructor leads you to do and how parents/baby participate. What do you actually do there?
I'll look into the other things you mentioned. Thanks!

Re: Mommy and Me
When DD was that age her classes consisted of a bunch of songs that included some kind of movement (i.e., you laying on your back with baby on your knees). The second half of the class was usually free play. The instructor put out mats, wedges, etc and lots of toys and the kids got to crawl around and explore. As she got older, the classes evolved to include musical instruments, games, etc.

Normally songs and some motor stuff like clapping. They may give some things for the kids to play with like hand clapper, tambereens, ect. A lot of public libraries have stuff like this.

Safe T swim has one... we just signed up. DS will be 7 months when we start, but he could have started earlier.

Re: Mommy and Me
I would definitely look into your library for a mommy and me, too... and its free!! the classes I've done with DS, have been songs that involve some motor stuff (like Itsy Bitsy Spider, wheels on the bus, etc) so you would help the baby with that. and maybe some instruments (shakers and stuff). the instructor leads you in those. Depending on where you go, there might be some tumbling, crawling through hoops, etc that the teacher would lead you and the baby through. AT the library, the teacher leads the group by reading a few stories outloud. And in most classes, there is some free play time that the teacher monitors. its basically just a way to get together with other moms and babies.
Try your library for free classes, Little Gym, My Gym, local indoor play places sometimes have Mommy and Me classes

I second the library. Some classes are just nursery rhymes and songs. Others have little toys, instruments, songs and movements, bubbles, etc. They're free and a great way to meet local moms with babies the same age as yours.

Ita! Although my library doesn't have a ton of programs for that age group.

I totally recommend a program at many libraries called baby PlayHooray. It's all of the things the posters mentioned, and the kids love it. They even do birthday parties. My girls look forward to it every week!
