mommies of big and tall babbies, come in please
DS leaked out of two of his diapers today, ughh! This usually means for us, time to size up.
He's a bit sensitive, and has reactions to certain diapers. We have had success with Huggies. So we size 5 now. (20 lbs, and 30" long and doesn't stay still unless he's sleeping, and even then )
So after 6, what's next? I'm confused, because he's only 6m.

I don't know if they make anything bigger than a 6. DS was big, as is DD. She is 18.4lbs and 27" and still in pampers swaddlers size 2-3 and Huggies Overnights size 3. Sorry, I'm no help.

when you put the diapers on, do they cover the belly button, cause I thought maybe I'm putting on diapes too big, but they only just cover the belly button.
He also always leaks if I try a smaller size, no matter the brand (actually some are worse)

Re: mommies of big and tall babbies, come in please
Honestly, I don't know what happens after 6. I was wondering the same thing because my one year old has been in size 5 for about a month now. He's been growing soooo fast (32lbs 32.5 inches).... He's a big boy....The only real diaper that works well for me is Pampers Baby Dry. He leaked out of Huggies and gets a rash from the new Pampers Dry Max. I did notice that the size 5 and 6 have larger weight spans so I'm hoping that will help. DS is also thinning out so I'm hoping this will keep him in size 5. Sorry I couldn't help much.

Are you sure the diapers aren't too big? Maybe they don't fit snug enough? My 12 month old is 31.5 inches long and weighs 25 pounds, we just put him in size 4 diapers.
Overnight diapers are more absorbent and they also make these things called diaper doubles, they are like an extra absorbent insert for diapers. They sell them on amazon.

Re: mommies of big and tall babbies, come in please
DS is about 16.5 lbs, 27 inches and is just about to go into size 3, still in 2-3.
they dont usually cover his belly button, you might have diapers that are TOO big on him
do you make sure that the "inner gathering" around the leg is pulled out, to keep him from leaking? Does that make sense? Stick your finger in between his inner thigh and the diaper and pull the inner bunching towards his leg. It will help

My DD is 2.5 and wears a size 6. She is 34lbs and 36 inches. They fit her fine. I would try a different brand. She wears either Target Up & Ups or Baby Dry.

DD is 27lbs and 33+inches and she JUST started wearing size 5's. They are still big on her, so perhaps its not the size, but the fit that is wrong?

Could it be leaking because it is too big? DS is 24lbs, and 32"
He is in a 4 and has been for a while. I did at one point think he should have been in a 5, and they fit, but not only did the 4 fit better, you get more diaper for your $!

Re: mommies of big and tall babbies, come in please
DD is also 20 lbs and 30 inches tall (11 months) and she is in size 5 diapers. She has been in them for about 4-5 months at this point. Her thighs needed the size 5s so I understand why a smaller weight wise baby might need the larger size diaper. I think pampers goes up to size 7. Size 7 pampers Alternatively you could always do pull ups which go into 5T.
eta: I make the back of the diaper higher than the front to prevent blow outs. I never cover the belly button. As another poster said, make sure to open the vents in the middle of the diaper. And as a mom to a boy as well, always make sure he points down so that he won't spray up.

Re: mommies of big and tall babbies, come in please
mia is still in a size 2 diaper, and she's not that much smaller than he is! she is 16.5lbs and 26.5in long. i think the diaper might be too big on him which can cause him to leak through.

Re: mommies of big and tall babbies, come in please
I would also recommend trying out a few brands and in a couple of sizes. We use EB and I find they run bigger than Pampers - they seem to be cut more generously. DD leaked out of Huggies like crazy when we tried those - I don't think it was because of the size, they just didn't seem to be cut well for her.
