Disgusting! I would check your sippy cups if you have the Tommee Tippee brand

Re: Moldy Sippy Cups

I almost just threw up. I never used a sippy cup but used straw cups. I was religious about using q-tips to clean up the straw and every once in a while boiling and scrubbing them (different from just using dishwasher).

That looks like no one properly cleaned it. Not sure how that goes unnoticed.

anything that gets wet can get moldy. That's disgusting and the parents just not cleaning those right. We had used sippy cups mainly straw ones as well but they never got moldy.

Moldy Sippy Cups

I have those cups and the parents neglected to clean those with any common sense.

Re: Moldy Sippy Cups

That is negligent. We used to pull everything apart and scrub with a thin dr. Browns brush after every use. If there was any sign at all of mold, we tossed the part.

Apparently from what I read, this brand doesn't come apart to wash. These people broke them to make them come apart. "According to O’kanada, the mold is only visible when you crack open the cup’s anti-leak spout. "

So the parts come apart on the spout? I don't know why these people are saying they had to break them open then. Weird! You definitely must have different spouts on yours. I was reading their facebook page, and all the posts from people who have these and wash them as you should, and you have to physically break the valve for it to open.

That's what I read, too. To get at the moldy part you need to break the top to the point where you can't use it again. I'm sure the brand will address this issue- wouldn't it be as simple as making it a clip that opens up so you can get at the inside?

They addressed it on their FB page basically blaming the parents in a nice PC way. The amount of comments following that with photos of the broken open spouts is astounding. So many of them!

That's the old style and they were SO much better. Then TT switched to this new one piece style. And now this happens.

That's disgusting. I saw the fb page and it did look like you need to cut/break the thing to open it. I remember with my DD all the sippy cups had tons of parts, were a pain to clean and they all leaked. Now with my son I use first years with the screw on cap. Easy to clean and they never leak

I saw this on the news and was so disgusted. I remember then my kids were little, I would take q tips and clean the valves and boil them. It look like there was so kind of seam on these valves where they were not meant to come apart, but these were pried open somehow.
