Mold question
DS has ripped a little bit of the wallpaper off our living room wall and the part he ripped has black stuff underneath. We are assuming it is mold so now - we have to do something about it. Any suggestions. It is right under a windowsill so it could either be old, be coming from the windowsill (but with all this rain this weekend it isn't wet their at all) or it could be from the airconditioner there! Please help with suggestions! Thanks so much!!!

Re: Mold question
I believe it is on the wall. I don't know how I would see it on the sheet rock w/out ripping down the wall ( Sorry if I sound dumb I have NO skills whatsoever).

Re: Mold question
mold stinks!!!!!!!
as an allergy sufferer i would start pulling off the wall paper in the area and check the under surface, if there is mold on the sheet rock, the only true means to get rid of it is to remove the involved sheet rock and address any issues seen in the walls before you replace the sheet rock
we currently are redoing the master bath and found mold and had to remove 2 walls and the ceiling, we are fixing the window, which is one source of moisture and we are putting in a vent to solve the other source
good luck

Re: Mold question
I don't think (but I don't know) that it is that far down. It is only right under the window sil in just a small area. I do have allergies too so now I am wondering if this was related. I thought it was my carpets and was using my tax refund to remove my carpets. AHHHH This homeowner stuff stinks

Re: Mold question
find out what's causing the mold - before you replace anything...
