MMR Vaccine-How Late Did You Wait?

DS was going to get his MMR vaccine next week at his 15 month visit, but his Dad just had chemotherapy and his immune system is pretty much shot. So both his pediatrician and his oncologist recommended putting this one and chicken pox off for awhile, though I am not clear how long we will need to put it off for--we see the oncologist this week, so I want to ask her more about this at that visit. From what his doctor said we may need to put it off close to a year!

I actually wanted to get him this shot--all three diseases are pretty bad, and I would rather he is protected, but it looks as if we will have to wait.

I'm just curious, how long did some folks wait to get MMR?

DS is 17 months, and we are waiting until his 2 yr visit.

We def want to get the vaccine, but wanted to wait as long as possible. Our Ped had no issue with this and said he would call us if there was an outbreak and we needed to get the vac earlier.

We did get the chicken pox on schedule tho.

Hmmm, we'll have to talk to DHs doctor. We go to his pediatrican next week also.

I don't mind delaying chicken pox, but MMR bugs me. Guess we'll have to see when the soonest is that DS can get this without potentially infecting DH.

DS's was delayed, but not for the normal reasons. He was supposed to get it at his 15 month appt, which was 9 days before Thanksgiving. We didn't want him to have a reaction during Thanksgiving, so we waited til after the holidays.

Then he got really sick and had seizures. He was going to get it at 18 months, but was still a little sick, so we have the appt when he is nearly 19 months. We are hoping to finally get it done.
