Mixing and matching fabrics

When you are using all in the same room-- not necessarily right next to each other-- if there is a common color, let's say red. Do you match the reds exactly? Or is close enough ok as long as everything flows nicely together... My anal nature coming out again.

I think you're OK - my bedroom (I keep referencing that room, I think I'm borderline obsessed) - is all different shades of blue.

Slate blue, baby blue, navy blue, royal blue. Toile and stripes abound as well.

with reds, I would just make sure they compliment each other. meaning in the same tone. Look at all the fabrics together and see how they feel to you, but yes, by all means, mix and match your fabrics. brings lots of dimension to your room. lot's of interest too. Chat Icon can't wait to see what you do.

You can def use different shades, but don't go crazy with one color, also use colors that compliment that color.

Re: Mixing and matching fabrics

I am just totally freakin' anal and I need to chill...

Here are two of the patterns-- I think I will add some blues too.

I would get this chair:

And have these pillows on the bed, not the striped ones, although I may use one or two in the room somewhere:

And this is my floor plan. Waiting on swatches for the bench at the foot of the bed (which will be centered, I screwed up in the tool).

I usually pick a pillow or a small upholstered ottoman with a lot of colors or a pattern and match all the other items in the room to it. So the things don't need to be all the same color, but look good next to one another and have one piece that ties everything together. Also of note, different fabrics take the same color differently. I find rooms that use a variety of textures to also be aesthetically pleasing.
