Mismatched Nightstands in Bedroom
My grandmother gave me her bedroom set years ago and it's what we've been using. Not exactly my style, but good old furniture and huge dresser and armoire, so we will continue to use it in our apartment when we move next week - we'll buy a new set when we buy a house. In any case, when she gave us the set, she only gave me 1 nightstand because she had given the other one to my aunt. This has been ok since our current bedroom is small and we had the bed against the wall, but in our new place - the bed will be in middle of the room and I'd like a nightstand on each side. I do not like that I am going to have mismatched nightstand - can anyone post any pics they've found on how this can look good? The nightstand is dark brown wood with gold/brass knobs. I'm not going to attempt to match another nightstand, but what can I use that will look good/stylish? Are we better off using a small table draped with fabric on the other side of the bed - or something like that? Any advice, ideas or pics would be great!
Thanks!

Re: Mismatched Nightstands in Bedroom
i have mismatched nightstands. in fact, all my end tables (LR) are mismatched. not a fan of sets so i prefer the look of mixing and blending styles.

yes, I would go with one of those round tables with the fabric draped over it for the other side.
I LOVE the look of mismatched pieces, its classic looking too!!

Same here.
I think if you find a piece in the same wood family, same general height...you should be fine.
I also really love the look of square & sturdy on one side, and round & delicate on the other side.

Re: Mismatched Nightstands in Bedroom
ours don't match- Jake only bought one- b/c he was single
and I wont spend money on a new set until we buy a house
so I took one of those $50 cubes from BBB and put a tray on it- it works

I agree. Although, we have a matching nightstands in our bedroom. lol DH won that battle.
Actually, I have seen many bedrooms with just one nightstand. Check out the magazines.

Thanks ladies - can any of you post pics to give me ideas - I tried looking online for different pics but didn't have any luck. If you had pics of your own furniture, or ones in mags, that would be great!
Thanks!!

Re: Mismatched Nightstands in Bedroom
I wish I had pics- but I love what my mom did. My dad has the table that matches their set- it's wood with two drawers, your typical nightstand. My mom bought one of those cheapo round tables for her side, but it's a little bigger than the usual ones. It's covered with a tablecloth and then a smaller tablecloth that matches their bedspread. It looks nice together- one side is feminine and the other is for the manly man. And she has storage space under the table.

Trace - I wish you had a pic too beacause this is exactly what I think I'm going to end up doing!
