Mint Hill, NC
Anyone know anything about this area? I see it is part of CMS District but they are very higly rated as well as having a charter school in the area.
TIA

Re: Mint Hill, NC
I lived in Matthews (next town over). Mint Hill is nice, there are nicer parts and then some not so nice parts of it. They have the only grocery store in the area that has Boars Head .
Some of it is real old, farms, big huge open lots and some is more (Like most of that area) huge communities. A lot of churchs. Its a nice town. I know nothing about the schools, We left NC before we had to worry about schools.

cornelius is nice...huntersville is nice, davidson is nice.
what is your pull to matthews?
your BIL is NW charlotte, you would be SE. on a good day 35-45 minute drive.

Re: Mint Hill, NC
DH's job would be in Matthews and he works at 3 or 4 am so him traveling 40 minutes to go work at that time is not a great idea. BIL is unsure where they will wind up but he doens't want to move 30 minutes outisde of his job.
I really liked Huntersville but I think it will just be too far.
I have been looking into Harrisburg and Concord also which has peaked some interest since it is out of the CMS district.
I will look into Weddingron also.

I live in Harrisburg and we like it a lot. We wanted out of Mecklenburg County due to the schools (nothing wrong with them, except that there is a ton of re-zoning that goes on and you can buy in one district and end up sending your kid to another).
Harrisburg is in Cabarrus county which is north and west of Charlotte. We wanted a short commute into uptown (where we work) and little traffic. We wanted good schools, a family neighborhood, parks, shopping near but not on top of us. All of this put Harrisburg on the map for us and ruled out south Charlotte which is where almost everyone lives. I also like that there is a real community feel-they do an annual Easter Egg hunt, movies in the park in the summer, a big fair with a pageant and parade for July 4th, and other stuff like that.
The down side of Harrisburg-it's closer to the university area then we would like (university is an area in Mecklenburg county-parts of university are fine, but as you get closer to the city it gets rougher-those parts are about 10 miles from us), there is no downtown (but you don't get that in most of Charlotte), it's close to the speedway-though this has never impacted us.

Re: Mint Hill, NC
ahhh okay.
well. my vote for your fam, not knowing financial situation is Ballantyne. It is CMS, but no one complains about the schools there.
By far my favorite place in charlotte.
We could not swing it.
So we headed south.
To get to my house, you pass through Weddington and Marvin. Both very nice, more rural neighborhoods.
I am in Waxhaw. We love it down here. Depending on where your DH is in Matthews, it would be 25-30 minutes away.
People like living in Concord. I did not see the real appeal though.
Weddington, Waxhaw is Union County.

Re: Mint Hill, NC
Weddington is a really nice area, not too far from Matthews (I have family there). Also have family in Providence Plantation which is really nice, and they were happy with the schools. I also have a niece who lives in a newer development in Stallings which seems nice, but they don't have school aged kids yet. Good luck, it is a beautiful area.

Ballyntyne, Weddington and Waxhaw are too far south, we don't want to travel that far to see family. Thanks for the help everyone.
