Mini Vacation to a Caribbean Island?
We're planning to do a mini vacation (max 4 days) before I give birth, we were thinking going to a Caribbean island. Which one do u think it'll be a good idea? Our 2 yr old will be coming with us. Oh and also budget friendly!

How about the DR? They have some pretty nice family friendly resorts.

Re: Mini Vacation to a Caribbean Island?
I thought it was more for couples for some reason, but lately I've been hearing great things for families. I agree! It looks so beautiful! And I think DH and I will def consider it

Aruba is awesome for families. We go to a time share every year at the Marriott and it's perfect for kids and adults. My boys have been going since they were babies and last we went in Feb when they were 5 and 3. Had a blast! Played in the sand all day, swam, slides, lazy river, playgrounds and lots of restaurants in walking distance.

I agree that Aruba is awesome, but I wouldn't necessarily consider it budget friendly.

The Riu does All inclusive... but personally, the food and restaurants are so yummy that i find all inclusive there to be such a waste. (we go every year and stay at time share at the Marriott)

There's the Riu and also Divi owns a few properties. I "think" that's it for all inclusive. The restaurants there are great, but pricy. Just to give you a frame of reference, we usually spend about $2200 for airfare and hotel for 4 nights for just me and DH. Add another $500 for your DC flight. We easily spend another $250-400 per day on eating and drinking. So if you base it on our low end (since you won't be drinking) that's another $1000 in spending. I would think you could do a really nice all inclusive in Mexico for a lot less then the roughly $4,000 Aruba will cost.

Mini Vacation to a Caribbean Island?
I would def recommend Aruba. We took our then 15 month old there and we had a blast. It was great relaxing on the beach, she would nap in her stroller with the amazing breeze! We personally have never done all inclusive because the restaurants there are AMAZING! Coming from NY to me they were not pricey, they were typical NY restaurant prices, some cheaper than others. Your going to Senor Frogs for burgers its average price meal, you go to El Gauchos for steak your paying steak house prices. We have always stayed at the Radisson and absolutely LOVE it. I do not know if they have all inclusive they might. I know people who did all inclusive at the Hyatt and were pleased.
Im sorry I have to disagree with the above poster in terms of $ spent. Depending on what time of year your going you can spend a lot less than $2200 on airfare and hotel. We spent less than that we also didn't spend $250-400 a day on eating and again we didn't do all inclusive. Price shop and compare see what the best deal is for you.
We may be going again in August. =)
