Mini vacation ideas
DH and I are looking to get away someplace not too far with my 16 month old daughter. Any thoughts on Mystic, Cape May, or Storybookland? What about Hershey park? Is she hit old enough yet?

Us too, but DD will only be about 9/10 months old. There is not much that she can do but we want to go somewhere family friendly.

If you do Storybook Land first, you can stay in Cape May. Storybook Land can be done in about 2 hours, especially because there are a few rides she won't be able to go on. Cape May has a free zoo, whale/dolphin watching boats, cute stores, great food, beaches and lighthouse.

Mini vacation ideas
We went to Mystic a few days ago for the aquarium and seaport. We stayed at the Hampton Inn. All very clean and there were tons of families with toddlers around. My son is 2 now, but I know he would have also enjoyed it at 16 months, even though his enjoyment obviously would have been at a different level. I haven't been to Cape May or Storybookland, so I can't compare, though.

Re: Mini vacation ideas
At that age, it's more about you... pick a place YOU would enjoy more.
DD did Cape May/AC & Mystic last year when she was 18 months... both were great... but we went primarily for DS who was 3 & got a LOT out of the trip. We will do both again this year (we go off-peak).
Both Mystic & Cape May/AC (we stay in AC) are child friendly & there was enough to do (keeping in mind a little one like that would probably be fine going to a pet store & the local park). Cape May is really low key, but you have zoo, boardwalk, beach & restaurants & can do the boardwalk rides & aquarium at AC. Mystic has a great aquarium & a seaport & restaurants. I like the drive to Mystic better than that to Cape May.
As for parks with rides... I've done it (Sesame, Disney, Rye Playland), but I'd wait (all except for Disney, which is in it's own category). Just not worth the trip when you compare them to what you'd get at, say, Adventureland for a 16 month old.

Re: Mini vacation ideas
I personally like Mystic better than Cape May. DH and I went to Cape May when I was pg with DS. It happened to have rained while we were there and we were bored out of our minds! We would have gone to the winery, but I was pg...
For kids, I like the aquarium at Mystic.
