Milk protein allergy moms kids who out grew it
How did you introduce dairy? My dd is almost 14 months. I am stil bf so I added dairy back into my diet 6 wks ago. We had some constipation issues at first, but dd is doing really well. Now we are going to add dairy into her diet. How did you do it?

Re: Milk protein allergy moms kids who out grew it
My DD just got the all clear that there is no allergy anymore (blood test at 2 yr appt). So far I am just not careful, not worried if it is in anything, but I am still not giving her "dairy" in form of cheese, milk, ice cream, etc. I do not think i will change over her milk, she drinks and likes Almond milk and I personally think milk isn't important as long as they are getting calium and vitamin d. As for everything else, I will think I will just let it happen, accidently i guess you can say, if she has it okay, if she doesn't that is okay too. But I think the best way to introduce it back in to the diet is slowly, possibly cook with it first and then give small amounts and wait a few days to see how effects GI.
I don't know if this helps but thought I would share my thoughts, we only found out a few weeks ago so we are still working it out too.

Re: Milk protein allergy moms kids who out grew it
We went to an allergist and had the testing done. I was too scared to introduce it, since dairy & soy had always resulted in projectile vomitting, constipation and DD feeling so horrible.
She was 100% NOT allergic anymore. I felt bad for making her go through the testing. I was still nervous to try though...I kept her on Nutramagin for a few days....gave her a sippy with about 4 oz milk...and waited. She was fine. The next day, same thing..fine. next day- tried cheese, by the end of the week, she was off formula and onto the wonderful world of milk, cheese, yogurt, etc.

My DS had it as a newborn, was put on Nutramigen and our Ped told us to try Dairy at 8 months. We introduced Yogurt and he had no reaction what so ever
We are still giving him the same formula though until he starts Milk.

Re: Milk protein allergy moms kids who out grew it
DS was on Elecare until 15 months. I started with one ounce of milk and 5 ounces of formula for 4 days. And then just upped the milk one ounce every four days until he was completely on milk. So far the only problem he has had is constipation. But I just give him pear juice to help him go. If he has to much yogurt, he goes days without going. He still has problems with soy protein..

Re: Milk protein allergy moms kids who out grew it
we started full fat yogurt at 11 months. after a week with NO problems, we began cheese every now and then.
by 12 months, he was eating yogurt and cheese daily, still on 100% formula
at 13 months, we started the formula transition. he takes 7oz bottles 3x a day. we did 3oz milk, 4oz formula for 1 week. week 2 is 5oz milk, 2oz formula and starting tomorrow, ALL milk
so far, so good.
