milk alternatives?
So, I think DD has some sort of milk intolerance since she seems to be vomiting at least a little bit after her bottles, especially in the morning. The pediatrician suggested switching to soy, but said it could be very constipating. I was wondering what other good alternatives I might be able to try instead of milk? Also, do I just switch cold turkey? Can I give the same amount? DD is almost 14 months. Thanks!

Re: milk alternatives?
I can't have milk bc my DS is intolerant and I'm EBF. My preferred milk substitute is So Delicious Original Coconut Milk. This is also what I gave my DD between 12 & 15 months before she outgrew her milk intolerance. I avoid soy bc it's already in so many things & can affect hormones.
In also made sure DD ate lots of calcium rich foods, like broccoli. And healthy fats like avocado.

What about almond milk. Too much soy isn't a good thing either.

Almond or coconut milk.
Be careful though because sometimes these have carrageenan- a possible carcinogen.

milk alternatives?
My DD drinks soy and has never had an issue with constipation. I would've preferred almond milk but she can't have that at daycare and she was not at all interested in coconut milk

I would not use soy. It mimics estrogen in the body and should only be used in extreme moderation. Additionally all soy unless it is organic is Gmo. I would look into coconut or almond milk. Or maybe even rice milk.

I gave gmo free soy at at first. I was more concerned about her getting enough protein, calcium, and fat at that age bc she didn't eat great. Eventually I tried to switch to almond and coconut but she wasn't interested. She'll have them in cereal or smoothies but other than that she'll only drink water. You can definitely try almond or coconut, I would just check to see that they are high in calcium. I found some brands of coconut milk were very high and others had very little.

Re: milk alternatives?
We did organic soy milk. It had the closest to real milk profile of fat/protein/carbs. Now he doesn't really drink much of anything other then water, but if he has the urge we still do the soymilk. Rice milk really has no nutritive value other then some simple sugars. Coconut milk has fats but not protein and almond milk is also pretty low in everything (fat and protein poor)
