MIL VENT
My first ....
Yesterday at BIL's birthday in the mdidle of cake she announces to me " You know..I found out the Catholic Church doesnt support or allow IVF" " But I dont care about that" ...well then..WHY DID YOU BRING IT UP? TO make me feel bad??
She went on to tell me I MUST breastfeed when I stated how I might decide not to. And she wouldnt back down.
Then she told me I HAD TO ( literally HAD TO) have an epidural..I would be stupid not to.
Um..whos boobs are they, whos having the labor and delivery?????
I feel like this is just a sign of things to come.
How do I avoid even TALKING about the PG will trying not to be totally rude, which Im on the verge of?

Grrrrr...just yes her to death and do what you want. Sometimes it isn't worth the battle....but yes I would just avaoid talking about it anyway. ANd if one day she asks why you don't share, just tell her that you seem to have very different ideas so you would prefer not to argue.

Thanks for your input (husband) and I will decide together once we get closer to the delivery date. Also do you really care about the Church? Are you religious? Would it have stopped you from going that route(these are hypothetical) Finally my response to all MIL threads F her!

People who makes comments like this drive me CRAZY!!!! Do not listen to her or let her make you feel bad. There are alot of things the catholic church does not agree with, but you cannot allow that to run your life. People need to realize that religion has not changed with the times, they are behind on a lot of things. The Catholic church also doesnt believe in any form of birth control, so if it were up to them and everyone listened to them people would be popping out babies 24/7 and diseases would be more widespread than they are. You wanted children and sought an alternative method to do so. Don't ever let anyone make you feel bad about your decision b/c your baby is the best decision you ever made.
Next time she says anything tell her to shut her fcking mouth! Sorry...had to vent!

Do what you want and ignore her - don't even give an answer.
I find it funny when my mom tries to give me advice on birth and how things work medically. She gave birth over 30 years ago and I've delivered babies! She says something about sandbags stopping the bleeding after birth - I tell her it's now a drug called pitocin!

I had someone tell me I HAD TO breastfeed meanwhile this lady never had kids...so why would she push me to do it?

Then change the subject.
