Middle School Graduation Party
Is this something people typically do?
I have never heard of it. In my family and the area I grew up, if anything, we would have just celebrated with immediate family.
We were invited for a family member and its at a venue, will probably be about 50 people.
Just curious.

I went right from elementary to high school (Catholic school..elementary ended in 8th), but we had big parties for elementary school graduation. Almost everyone had them in a hall.

Thanks, I had really never heard of this before
I grew up in not a good area (not on LI) and never had anything like this.
I have also never had or been to a sweet 16 party but I know those are very common !

Seems completely unnecessary.
Considering especially that so many LIers have bar/bat mitzvahs and so many girls have Sweet 16s (something so infrequently done in other parts of the country -- especially on the level that people do here).

Heard of it, don't understand it. Also don't understand Kindergarten graduation. Did Kindergarten become difficult since 1980?

I also went to catholic school so I only graduated in 8th and 12th
So we had a party for both! I think those are pretty big deals.
That is what my family and friends did too!
I think it is "more weird" for a 5th or 6th grade graduation bec that is not what we did...
so I guess it is just what you are used to

My family threw parties for EVERYTHING...always in the back yard, but a party just the same.... However, we did not do middle school parties. I think we probably just went to dinner with the immediate family...maybe grandparents...

My immediate family - Mom, Dad, Sister went out to a nice lunch. My parents got me a beautiful emerald ring- it was near my birthday too, so it was a combined gift. Later that weekend my Aunt and Uncle and Cousin came over and we had a Carvel cake, nothing fancy.

In 6th grade we just had our school roller skating party & then went over a friends' house following it--but wasn't a party.
In 8th grade we had a party & then HS.
Now it's getting ridiculous..in my school they have a moving up for 3 year olds w/ show & then stepping up for 4 year olds, graduation for K. It's getting crazy.
