For Mexican: Zarela...their margies will knock you on your azz! Owned by celeb chef Zarela Martinez..food is great. Try the plantains with mole and sour cream and the chilaquiles.
For Cuban-Calle Ocho..a little upscale but the food is great and the mojitos are delish! They also make great appetizer empanadas..
ok, now I want to go to both.

Our fav mexican is Canyon Road on the upper east side. I love the spinach and goat cheese burrito.
I also love Dos Caminos. There are 2 locations and they are building a third.

If you want a low key Mexican restaurant, go to Tequila's. It's on 14th in between 7th & 8th...but closer to 8th. They have great margarita's.

For cuba, we love Cuba in the village ( I think it is on Thompson street). It has a great atmosphere. There is a guy in the corner rolling cigars and a cuban band. people dance in their seats. The food is awesome and the sangria is better!
Mexican...I really like Canyon Road on the Upper East Side.

awesome place! It's so fun there! When my friends and I went, the owner came around and poured shots of tequila in everyones' mouths right out of the bottle.

Asia de Cuba
It's an Asian/Cuban fusion restaurant around Madison and 38th St. DH went last week with work and LOVED it. You will need reservations.
