metaformin/clomid ?

Hi everyone. I am really new to LIF I had posted a ? on ttc not realizing it was the wrong board to post to. I am really new to this whole world of infertility treatments. I was diagnoses with pcos at 17 and was on bc for years. I went on metaformin last year for a short time. I finally went to see an re this week and he wants to put me on 4x the amount of metaformin I was on plus clomid. I was wondering if anyone out there had success ttc with just metaformin, or with the combination of metaformin and clomid.

I also have PCOS. I was on 1500mg of metformin a day alone for 3 months, which did nothing for me. I added Clomid for one cycle (50mg) but I didn't get any follies and it made me crazy so I opted out of another cycle.

Many women DO have luck with just clomid, though.

I have been on metformin for years as I was diagnosed pretty early on w/ PCOS as well. I know metformin alone has been enough to help jumpstart some people (though not me) and some have gotten pg just from being on/increasing that, and others with the help of clomid. It may take a few months for the metformin to kick in and do anything though, which is why they may be adding in the clomid. Good Luck!

I conceived on metformin+clomid. I was on 1500mg of metformin and 150mg clomid. I also had a trigger and IUI. Good luck!!!

I am currently on 1500mg of Metformin/day... I was told I would probably have success on my own w/o any additional drugs in a few months, but if I wanted to be aggresive then we'd add lotrozole (like clomid)- which we are currently doing.

I am one of the luck ones. I went on Metformin for PCOS and my third month on it I started o'ing on my own. I got pregnant with ds my 6th month on it. If I had not gotten pregnant when I did they were going to add Clomid to help me along. I was on 750mg extended release 2x a day (1500mg total Met). I had to stay on the Met through the first trimester and had to have 2 glucose tests done during the pregnancy. He was born happy and healthy and I managed to avoid gestational diabetes. Good luck

I'm also on 1500 mg Metformin and still don't ovulate on my own. I did respond to low doses of Clomid but never got pg. GL!!

i was on 2000mg metformin and 100mg clomid for insulin resistant PCOS and concieved. I know some people have had success while others havent. It takes about 6 weeks or so for ur body to start working with the metformin.
