medical advice? swollen eyelid ?

So its not a sty if my whole eyelid is swollen right ?
is this an infection, a cold ? Chat Icon
Id like to go to the dr, but dont know if its something that just has to work out of my system?
Its my upper eyelid, its barely noticeable, but if you are close, you can see that its pink and swollen. It doesnt bother me, but Id like to take care of it, if it can get worse Chat Icon

the inside of my eye isnt pink at all, and no gook (which my kids have had from pinkeye in the past).
Im going to try to run to the Dr tomorrow just to be safe.

I was going to suggest heading to the doctor as well. Something similar happened to me once and it just got worse - I ended up getting a prescription oinment.

There is this woman at work- whenever she gets pink eye her lid gets soooooo swollen- like she cant even open her eye-

but its not pink and no guk... its just how her eye reacts to "pink eye"

I thought you had a small sty last week.Chat Icon

Definitely get to the doctor. Cool wet washcloth on your eye if it's swollen; warm if it's something that's oozing in your eye.

Re: medical advice? swollen eyelid ?

If you think it may be a sty, the best thing to do is boil some water, dip a coton ball in the water and put it on your eye. It will help the swelling go down and will make it less red.

Re: medical advice? swollen eyelid ?

one thing my mother (who is a nurse) taught me...DON'T MESS WITH YOUR EYES! Get it checked out ASAP....even if it is allergies maybe they can give you something to make the swelling go down...For a sty my mother always made me put a tea bag on it....the chemicals help the infection...also have to tried a warm wash cloth to help the swelling??Chat Icon

I do this too! People laugh when I tell them to try it and then come back and thank me.

It could be a sty. I have seen some nasty stys. Is it painful at all? Stys are usually kind of sore feeling.

Re: medical advice? swollen eyelid ?

I have pink eye right now and wehen I first got it my eyelid was VERY swollen. I could barley open my eye and it hurt.

Is is tearing or puss coming out (sorry if TMI) b/c then it might be pink eye.

Do you wear contacts? You could have an infection.

Definitely have it checked. You just don't mess with your eyes. Chat Icon

Re: medical advice? swollen eyelid ?

is your eye watering or is it pussing?
you can have a viral infection in your eye....
pink eye can be viral or bacterial.

OR you can have an in-grown eyelash.
