mattresses??? confused

So i found a mattress at sleepys for my daughter. Its a great price. But now im seeing some people got organic mattresses...
i do believe in the organic natural way of living to a certain extent. We eat organic food.
I dont wear organic clothes or deny my child or myself non organic food.
I have read up about the vocs and fumes released from a mattress but an organic mattress is double the price. The sort of green ones are not available to test in stores and im not spending that kind of $ without testing it.
To add i have no plans to use organic bedding. Maybe an organic pillow but not even sure about that...

Is the organic mattress a ploy or real? Theres so much conflicting info. How many of you have regular mattresses for your child?

Eta: another major concern is spending so much $ on a mattress made by a company thats fairly new that doesnt exclusively make mattresses to have it sag or worse within a few years.

Thanks!

I have never in my 41 years slept on an "organic" mattress and I am still alive to tell the tale.
Please.
What is next? organic underwear?

Re: mattresses??? confused

It would never occur to me to spend more $$$$ on organic. To me it's a luxury and not a necessity.

I got DC a regular mattress. my preference was for a plastic outside material and use a quilted waterproof mattress cover for it (my theory for this if I ran out of waterproof mattress covers for whatever reason at least with a plastic outside material I didn't have to worry about how difficult it would be to clean the mattress If something spilt, peed etc. on it. ). I use my preference plus reviews to pick mine out.

ETA: I realized now you are talking about a regular mattress and not a crib.

For DD she is using the mattress that we already had when the need comes to buy new one out I would not make organic a must have on my list. I would just go on comfort and reviews
