maternity leave-spinoff - teachers/counselors?
I am a HS counselor, took 1 year of leave with my DD. I was never told that it would change my place on the seniority list. I thought it was based on the date you were hired does it vary by district?

Sorry to hijack, but do you know if that happens if you only take 12 weeks?

I think most give you the 12 weeks so affecting your seniority. My sister is a spec area that is first to get cut so she only took 12 weeks so she didn't lose seniority

I am a School Psychologist and I believe that after the standard 12 weeks (FMLA) it affects your seniority. At least I think that is how it is in my district & I work on Long Island.

In my district if you are out for more than half a year you lose the year, seniority freezes, and don't go up a pay scale.
Most places do that if you take more than your FMLA....
