Maternity Leave/Returning to Work
Sorry this is long! I also posted this on Parenting for BTDT moms
Background: I have 2 weeks off prior to EDD & 12 weeks after LO’s birth. I will have approx 25 vacation days for the year (excluding 3 personal days) and I am considering a couple of options once the baby arrives… Because I have a larger # of vacation days next year than usual I would like to use them to spend time with LO. I should add that my mom will be watching LO 2x a week and we will be using daycare/babysitter for the remainder of the week.
Option 1: Stay home for 3 additional weeks after maternity leave is over (using 15 days, 10 remaining for vacations, time off, etc…)
Option 2: Return to work once maternity leave is over, take off every Monday for 15 weeks to be with LO (leaving 10 remaining)
** I also have the ability to work from home once a week but I am not confident that I’ll be able to watch LO & work effectively, I think it may be too stressful. We currently have 2 moms that do this. However If I go with option 2, I don't want to have 1 day off & work 1 day from home**
As a BTDT what makes the most sense???? All opinions welcome!!!!!!!!!

I'm in a similar circumstance & after having 1 DC, I think I'm going to try to see if I can do option #2 this time around. I will not leave any days for vacation & stretch it out as long as possible.

If you decide on option #2, will you manager be OK with you taking off every Monday and doing a 4 day work week?

I do believe that I'll be able to negotiate this. I'm choosing Monday because in the summers ,Friday is always a light staff day because of 3 day weekends and such & I will definetly remain flexible.
