Massage vs. prenatal massage?

What's the difference? If I tell my regular massage person that I am pregnant can I still get a massage? I'm 6w1d.

Re: Massage vs. prenatal massage?

Massages are not recommended in the first trimester.

If you tell her you are pregnant she will most likely not give you a massage.

I think you are only supposed to get a prenatal massage, as a regular massage could hit pressure points that may trigger labor.

FM AndreaLMT, she'd know for sure.

I believe so too... because today at mine, she didn't massage my feet or ankles.

Re: Massage vs. prenatal massage?

They are special precausions while doing a massage on a PG woman.

1st trimester is a no-no.

In general, it's a light massage, side lying, no abdominal work, no ankle massage.

If you are getting a massage other than swedish (more asian type) like acupressure there are some points they cannot do.

It is better to go with someone who is experienced/had more training with pregnancy massage.

FYI... I am a massage therapist.
