Mario Batali

Has anyone been to any of Mario Batali's restaurants in NYC. Someone told me about Babbo. I was wondering if any of them are worth eating at???

Re: Mario Batali

I went to Babbo. We got in on a whim....just happened to call and there was a cancellation. The food was good but we didn't know what most of it was and had to ask. We got to meet Mario though!

Re: Mario Batali

Went to Del Posto last night and it was wonderful. Everything tasted so yummy!!! They have two areas, the restaurant and a lounge restaurant with a cheaper menu. Check out the website.

Re: Mario Batali

I'm a big fan of Mario Batali's restaurants.

Esca if you love fish
Lupa-probably my favorite because it has the most rustic menu.

I went to Babbo a few years ago. Very good. BIL is having his engagement party at Del Posto in a few weeks....hopefully it is just as good.

Re: Mario Batali

Is there anything normal or semi normal to eat at any of these places?? I heard he serves crazy things like pigeon and stuff.

Re: Mario Batali

Yes, very normal and at Lupa the menu is in Italian with the translations on the back. The wait staff is excellent and describes everything. Don't sweat it.

Pigeon (aka Squab) is not crazy. It takes just like chicken. But, if you don't like to try new things there are surely more normal things on his menus for you to have! Chat Icon

Re: Mario Batali

I've been to Babbo and Po...
For some reason I don't believe he owns Po anymore though...I think I saw that on the Food Network biography.
