March 2010 moms - 4 month updates

I hope this wasn't done already! Where are the March 2010 moms? How are your 4 month olds doing?

At DS's 4 month appointment, these were his stats:

12 lbs 8.5 oz (he finally made the growth chart! 20th percentile!)
23 inches long
41.5 cm head circ. (25th %)

I'll add my usual "disclaimer" that DS was 2 months premature so I know he may not be like other 4 months old yet.

So DS still doesn't like tummy time, but he has good head control when sitting up or being held. He's also smiling and laughing a lot, it's the best! He's so much more alert and likes to play with his toys. He can hold toys, but it's hit or miss still. He loves eating his hands and sometimes will eat his bib or blankie. Oh and he LOVES bathtime now and splashes his arms and legs.

He's eating 4-5 ounces every 4 hours or so. He takes a short nap in the mornings and a longer nap (about 1.5 hours, but can be 1 hour to 2 hours depending on the day) in the afternoon. We've started a daily routine and he's doing really well with it. He's still getting up at least twice a night, I get one good 4-5 hour stretch and then he's up a couple of times after. I'm hoping to break his need for the boob to fall asleep (I realized that I messed up by offering the boob when he was crying and he would use it to fall asleep, but now he neeeeeeds the boob to fall asleep).

He loves to play in his bouncer, exersaucer (we use the hugga bebe so that he fits into it well), and even checking out his tiny love mobile in his crib.

How are all the other 4 month olds (or thereabouts) doing?

Re: March 2010 moms - 4 month updates

I can't believe they are 4 months already! Izzie has her appointment on 7/30 so I will update then. She is definitely in the 75% for height, though - she is long like Luca and in 6 month clothing.

Izzie gives herself tummy time - she is a rolling maniac. She pushes up really well on her arms and most mornings I find her in her crib like that looking around Chat Icon DS didn't like being on his tummy till around 6 months so this is new to me!

She is still working on reaching for toys but if her hand happens to find one she grabs it and hangs on for dear life while she tries to cram it in her mouth Chat Icon Her bib and shirt is always in her mouth! I am so curious to see if she was an "early" teether like Luca. She seems to like the jumperoo but not love it... she hasn't quite figured out that she can jump yet! She does love her rocker, though, she scootches down, sticks her legs in the air and puts her feet in her mouth Chat Icon

She is a riot! Always laughing and smiling, not nearly as serious as Luca. Plus she loves loves loves to be tickled Chat Icon

She still hates baths, so I make them quick - I know she will like them more when she can sit up. Luca was the same way.

She is eating 6-7 oz. every 4 hours. She isn't STTN yet, but sleeps from about 7:30pm to 1:30am every night, has a 6 oz, bottle, and then sleeps until 6 or 6:30am.

She is definitely not consistent with her naps but she is really doing a lot better with going down to sleep, there's a lot less crying and fussing! (Hope I didn't just jinx that Chat Icon)

Re: March 2010 moms - 4 month updates

Ainsley just went for her 4 month appt this weekend (she was 4 1/2 months).

15lbs 1oz (87th percentile)
26 1/4" (97th percentile)
I don't remember the exact measurement of her head but she was in the 70th percentile

She is rolling from her back to belly pretty consistently. She still doesn't have the greatest head/body control. We've tried putting her in the exersaucer and she flops all over the place.

She's got torticollis and we're going for a physical therapy consult in the next couple of weeks.

She's still STTN and eating about 4-5oz every 3 hours or so during the day. Some days she sleeps really well during the day and some days she cat naps the whole day.

She is babbling away and actually was saying "mamamamama" the other day. I know she doesn't mean it for me yet, but since Kaydyn didn't say mama until 15 months I'm hoping maybe Ainsley will say it sooner.

She is such a content/happy/go with the flow type baby most of the time. Def not as active as her big sister which hopefully bodes well for us.

Logan hasn't had 4 month appointment yet because we just got back from South Africa.

According to home scale he is now 14 pounds, 10 ounces and appears to be 26" long

He's take almost 30 ounces from a bottle in addition to BF every few hours during the day. At night he sleeps from 7pm till around 4am and then after an ounce or two he goes back to sleep till 8.

We are at the stage where everything goes in the mouth!

Re: March 2010 moms - 4 month updates

Noah was 17lbs and 27" long Chat Icon at his last appt. We have him in 9-12m clothes now.

He's sitting up assisted, like corner of sofa. He still hates tummy time, although on a rare occasion he'll enjoy it for a few minutes. He rolls back to side, and tummy to side, but wont go further, but I think today he really tried.

Always looking for people wondering why they aren't smiling at them and so totally excited when they do. He's been babbling for weeks, his favorite "word" at the moment is "agoogoogoo". We noticed him laughing at 3m but now we now what makes him laugh and its so much fun!

He's too tall for the excersaucer, but too thin for the jumperoo we got, so we try it for only a few min. He loves mirrors, shiny things, people on TV, and WATER! I could sit him in the bath for an hour before he gets bored or complains. Loves music, and me singing, my voice is hoarse and I'm a terrible out of tune singer.

he STTN 8-10 hrs, 8-9 oz every 4 hrs, and 2 small "meals"
