Manhattan and a Toddler
What is the easiest way to bring my toddler to the city? We are definitely taking the train (driving is not an option). Not sure if I should bring the stroller or use a carrier. Any tips or useful suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely a stroller... We have been bring DS in since he was an infant and I always brought a stroller... Need it for them to sleep, relax, and stretch out...He is now 3 and we just went three days ago and he was in the stroller.. I saw so many people with babies/small toddlers in carriers and they were regretting it...

I take my umbrella stroller. Subways are generally not accessible so you will end up carrying the stroller up and down strairs. Totally doable. I do it on my own with a one year old.

Re: Manhattan and a Toddler
It's very easy to stick a carrier in the basket of a stroller.
It really depends on how old your kid is, how he walks and what your day plan is. Also depends in your stroller.
I often go into the city. For short trips, DS walks. We usually do central park and dinner. Our stroller is the citi mini which does well. We use it if we will be walking far. DD who is a year goes into a carrier. We use this if we will spend over an hour walking.
Now, if you are going into Rockefeller center at a crowded time... It's hard to maneuver a stroller. Not impossible: just hard.

Everytime I take DD into the city we bring the stroller. There are tons of parents walking around with strollers in Manhattan. She is 27 months and I like to keep her contained on the train and on the busy streets.

We just got home from a day in the city today with our 19 month old. We brought our chicco umbrella stroller and it worked out perfect.

Umbrella stroller. I would recommend carrying a backpack vs a normal diaper bag. It frees up your hands.

I give you credit for taking the train in. Not sure if the reason for driving in is money but if it is there are places you can park for 10-12 hrs for under $20 - ive never taken the train in with the kids so I cant offer any advice with the train. Just beware the city is extremely crowded for the holidays. There are times we felt like we were sheep in a herd. That being said, bring the smallest stroller you can and travel light. I have two little ones so I had to take the uppa baby with the rumble seat. But it worked out because I stored everything on the bottom and my hands were free.
