Manhasset Schools Under Lock Down
Police Searching For Gun
MANHASSET, N.Y. (CBS) ? Manhasset High School and Middle School have been locked down following reports of two students seen with a gun.
Police say the students were possibly spotted with the weapon inside a boys' bathroom in the middle school just before 9 a.m.
The middle school and high school share a building. Investigators are currently searching the entire property. There are no reports of any weapon being recovered at this time.

Hi all...I'm in the school right now. I teach in the middle school. Everyone is safe. The police are here, the students are safe....just getting really really restless (as am I).
There was a report of two students in the bathroom with a gun, and they were looking for the students, but I don't know if they found them or not. I'm assuming they did, because there are about a million police here.
I'm just hoping it ends soon...I've been in the same room with the same kids since 9:45 this morning!!!

ugghhhhhhh.. so scary and frustrating!
My step-sons school district was in lock-out mode yesterday (massapequa).
Supposedly there was an armed robbery in Massapequa and the suspect fled away in a vehicle.
BTW--- what is the difference between lock-down and lock-out mode?

I think a lock-down is when students can't leave the classroom and a lock-out is when no one from outside can get inside the building.
It's scary because when we went to school all we had to worry about were fire drills, not there are specific drills for instances such as a school shooting

One of my students was so scared today because his girlfriend goes to Manhasset. I felt so bad for him. He wouldn't let me leave his side after she texted him. I hate when things like this happen.

I hope it was a false alarm and the student who thought he saw something got it wrong. But I'm glad he said something when he thought he saw a gun!
I'm home safe and sound now to enjoy my daughter's frist birthday!
