Mamas: Does anyone have the Graco Snugride for an Infant Carseat?
I plan on registering for that one (to use with the City Mini.) Do you like it? What about the forward facing carrier? Should I get Britax or one from Peg? Or Graco? Not sure. I know everyone likes the Peg Primo Viaggio Infant Carrier, but it's a little heavier than Snugride. Opinions on infant and then the next seat babies need? (convertible)
And this is dumb but...is the seat still called convertible if it's NOT the seat that you use as the both the infant carrier and then turn around when they're 1 year old or 20 pounds?

I have it...used it for DS and will use it for this baby too. It consistently gets the best safety reviews.
As far as a "forward facing carrier" do you mean the infant seat or the convertible seat? Babies never face forward in the infant carrier.
We have to Britax Marathon convertible seat and a Graco Nautilus and love them both. I think I may even like the Nautilus better and it's half the price!

Sorry! I meant the next step carrier--yes, convertible. Graco only seems to make the infant carrier, not the one for when babies can ride fwd facing.

I have the snugride - I used it for DD and will use it for this baby. I'm very happy with it!
For the convertible carseat, I have Britax marathon and Love it!

We now use the Britax Roundabout. FYI - a convertible car seat is not a carrier, it stays in the car. Oh, and it can be rear or forward facing. We still have DC rear facing at 19.5 months.

so tell me if I have this. The infant carrier the baby uses rear facing until 1 year or at least 20 pounds. The infant carrier comes out of the car, snaps into stroller, etc. Base stays in car (we'll get 2 extra bases at least for DH and my mom). Convert seat stays in car, has no base, and from the seat I can just put bebe right into stroller. They use that until they need a booster....right? PS: are all the convert seats rear or fwd facing? i'm guessing the downside of putting bebe in convert seat is that since there is no base, and can't come out of car, you have to literally move baby out and wake them if they're asleep, etc.

You are correct!
I believe all convertible seats are rear and forward facing, and I also believe the recommendation is now 2 years old rear facing......ugh!
I was the same way when I was pregnant with DS, all the talk about snap n gos, seats, pack n plays, travel systems....it was all so overwhelming, but you'll get it!!

Just wanted to offer some BTDT advice... I registered for the Graco Sungride 35 (baby can fit in it until 35 lbs) and then the Graco Nautilus.
DD is 17 lbs (4 months old) and getting too big for the snugride. and she hates being in with the snap & go now. She likes her regular stroller. The Nautilus is NOT convertible (only forward facing). They have now changed saftey recommendations to rear facing until 2 years old. So, I had to return the Nautilus and I got the Graco MyRide, which is convertible (forward & rear facing) and should be able to hold DD until she needs a booster.
Just thought I'd throw that out there!

Also, as for the snugride 35....typically a child will outgrow the height long before they get to 35 pounds. My son is almost 3 and 36 pounds!
