Making mashed potatos for Turkey Day??
I am suppose to bring mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving I never made then ahead of time before. Does anyone have any suggestions how to do this and make them still taste fresh and not taste like instant?

just make them as you normally would and put them in the fridge...they heat up great in the oven.
I always use half and half or heavy cream when whipping them.
Of course this in is addition to the tons of butter and fresh garlic i melt together first. I add salt and pepper as well....

Make them as you usually do, then add a little layer of milk over the top. That helps keep the potatoes from drying out. You'll just mix it in when you are ready to serve.
I make the potatoes about an hour ahead of time, just to clear off my stove for other things. I wrap the pot in a big beach towel and leave it on the floor near the radiator. Potatoes stay warm and no need to reheat.

I use this recipe, only I put them in the crockpot that morning and they are all set for early dinner, PLUS they don't take up precious real estate in my oven.
