Make me stop googling - velamentous insertion of the umbilical cord
My OB left a message for me yesterday to call her today.
Apparently, during my Level II they found that the umbilical cord if not attached to the center of the placenta like it's supposed to be, but rather to the membranes.
All she said was that it meant that I had to get another sono at 8 mos to see how the cord was attached and that I would need to schedule a repeat C-section bc the cord might rupture if I try to deliver naturally.
So of course I go home and start googling and scaring the bejesus out of myself.
Anyone have this or heard of this?
My OB's office opens at 11 so I will be calling her back then.

im sure everything will be OK but i know what you mean. I have made the mistake of googling "hydramnios and polyhydramnios" since i found out about it last week ... it's scary what *could* happen
they are in good hands

Oh my gosh please stop googling. You can make yourself nuts- I know. I should have never looked up high BP in pregnancy after my pressure was high last week. I've been worried sick every since and THAT is not good for the BP either.
I am sure your Dr will keep a good close eye on you now that they discovered it and all will be fine. Just trust in them and stay off the web!

Re: Make me stop googling - velamentous insertion of the umbilical cord
I have a similar issue, the cord is attached to the very edge of the placenta, not the center. I have to go back for a growth sono at 32 weeks for them to check the cord and the size of the baby. I really try not to think about it , one of the things I read was the cord could snap off, and it scares the he!! out of me. my doc said not to worry about it, that the baby could be on the smaller side tho. I have not googled it again after I saw this

I read the same thing!
My OB called me back and said that same thing yours did, that I should not worry about it and that the baby could be on the smaller side, but we are going to proceed as usual with this PG, and I should not worry.
So, after today, I'm done with googling and will just that grows at a normal pace and ABSOLUTELY NO LABOR VIBES!!!
