Major meltdown today
My Mom and brother came over today to help get the nursery together. Now that I am on bed rest, I couldn't really do anything. We had planned out what we were going to do all week. We were supposed to move a sewing table out of the dining room to make room for a desk. Then move hubby's dresser into the master bedroom. But my brother decided to move ALL of the baby's stuff from the living room into the nursery. Now everything is sitting where the packnplay is supposed to go. That had me ****** off right there. He kept telling me to relax and calm down. I am 23 days away from my due date and a bit overwhelmed with things. I haven't been emotional this whole pregnancy, but it all came out today. My Mom kept throwing out these little snide comments. At one point she even said "Should I have the baby for you". One would think that she would know what its like to be this pregnant and feelings. They came in and did whatever they wanted and didn't even ask how I feel. Now they think I am selfish. I'm not. I am hormonal. My Mom's attitude today made my B/P spike today. More then once. Spent most of the day in bed laying on my side. When I made my way back out to the living room, they were doing something else and muttering sh*t under their breaths....I lost it...I told them thank you for their help, but don't bother coming back tomorrow. And I ran out of the room crying. I think I only cried once or twice this whole pregnancy. ANd that was for my MIL and Uncle that passed away. Now I will have to deal with the aftermath of this hormonal outburst.

Re: Major meltdown today
Dont be so hard on yourself. They should understand that its hard to control those emotional outbursts. It also fustrating to be on bedrest and not be able to do things on for yourself.

Re: Major meltdown today
Don't beat yourself up -
FIRST of all, IMO if I'm offering to HELP someone do something that they can not do themselves, ESPECIALLY in their home, I'm going to do my very best to be sure I get things done THE WAY THEY WANT THEM DONE ....NOT the way I think they should be done. -
Your Mom and Brother were unfair. I agree with you - It's kind of like well, don't do me any favors if you're going to throw your 'help' back in my face ......
- And I'm NOT hormornal !!

Re: Major meltdown today
I completely agree with you. I would have and have reacted the same way. I've been told I'm selfish lately bc I'm on moderate bedrest and I should go out of my way to help other people, like my mom and my sister. I think f*&% that, my mother should be the first one in line to be asking, "do you need anything?" But she makes me feel guilty and lazy. I've been very hormonal lately and not for nothing, but I have always gone above and beyond for them, I feel like this once I should be helped out more, so I definately agree with your feelings and reactions. It's very hard having to count on people and not be in control with such regular things. I hate apologizing, I hope your better at it then I am, if that is they are expecting you to.

Re: Major meltdown today
I think your reaction was perfectly justifiable and I agree with pp who said that if I was helping someone out in their house, I would try my best to follow their wishes as to the way things were done. Dealing with the aftermath for you should include nothing but waiting for them to apologize to you, or moving on without apologizing to your them. I would be seriously pi$$ed if my mother (or anyone for that matter) spoke to me the way you were spoken to. Next time they ask if you need help, my response would be thanks, but no thanks.

Re: Major meltdown today
It is stressful not being able to do what we would like on our own. I totally understand why you got upset. Maybe call your mom tomorrow and explain your feelings. People forget what situations are like when they haven't been through them in a while. Hormones stink!

Re: Major meltdown today
Thanks for the responses. I was afraid that everything was my fault. Now they are really p*ssed at me and my Mom has all of my baby clothes that I brought over to her house because she wanted to wash them. That was four days ago and she was supposed to bring them back today. Didn't happen. My best friend sent my brother a text message asking if they were done yet and he said no. I can go into labor any day now and I will have nothing for this kid. So tomorrow my best friend is going to drive over and pick the clothes up and bring them back to her house and wash them. We don't have a washer/dryer in our apt. Tonight her and her husband spent 3 hours up here helping me do what was supposed to be done this afternoon. They are going to come back tomorrow and help me finish cleaning up. The nursery is all set up. Just have to finishing everything that I asked hubby to do today but he was too scared to get involved with what was going on. I can't believe how quickly my emotions got to me today.
