Mail Carrier ?

Can they not deliver your mail if there is a car somewhat infront of the box. I just saw my mail lady floor it past my box. Geez, I was waiting for something too

I guess if they thought they couldn't open the box without hitting the car, they could. My dad is a retired letter carrier and says that they are given instructions on what to do in certain situations. If you have a violent dog running on your property, they can skip your house. If you don't shovel the snow on your step, they can skip you too.

Funny thing is that it is to protect you and them. If they injure themselves or cause damage to your property while attempting to deliver the mail, a lawsuit could result.

Yes they can. Federal law states that the mail carrier needs free egress to the receptacle. I have had this happen to me, on occassion. However, what I found amusing was that the mail carrier stopped their truck, got out and put a slip of paper in my mailbox stating that they could not deliver my mail because the box was blocked. WHAT! If you got out to put the paper in the box, why not just put the mail in it.

that's what I figured, it's not even my car thats what really pisses me off!
