help! I didn't know there were so many different brands of them!

Does it matter? Is one better than the others?

My kids got Magnatiles this year. We got a set of like 75 and got the Magnatiles brand. They LOVE them. Play with them daily and frequently. I am surprised at home much my younger one loves them and uses them too. Between the two kids we really could use a second set of 75. Sometimes they fight because they both want to make their own thing but mostly they work together and make due with the one set. The ones we have are colored but transparent. They love to build tall towers and to put their little figures and stuff inside. They've made bridges and drive little cars across. They played with magformers at a friends house and liked those too but I think they like that their magnatiles are closed, flat pieces for the types of things they tend to build. I know I saw some tiles that looked very similar to the magnatiles on Amazon that were a little cheaper for the amount you get. I was tempted to try them but used a coupon and went with the Magnatiles brand instead so I can't comment on them.

We have the Magnatiles brand - friends told us they were worth the extra $$. They sell them at Target, Lakeshore Learning and Amazon.

My kids love them - we got the 75 piece set from Target and are getting DS more for his birthday in March - he builds with them every day and loves them!

eta - I wouldn't go smaller than 75 - DS is going to be 4 in March and gets frustrated that he doesn't have more pieces.

We have the 100 piece MagnaTiles. I didn't know if they'd be worth the money, but they definitely are. DS loves them!

Unfortunately they are very expensive but they are definitely worth the money. I wish I had known about them for my kids but my nephew loves them (actually so do my kids but they are a little older).

We have the magformers and dd lives them. She only has a set of 36 but we'll definitely get more for her birthday. I can't compare to the other brand bc we've never tried them but no issues with the mag former brand.

Re: magnatiles

My mom has a set of 100 magnatiles at her house and they are amazing. I wanted to get a set for our house but DH didnt want to -- finally my mom got us a set of ShapeMags which are one of the knockoff brands but are compatible and come in more shapes. So, our set has windows, 2 car bases, etc. I think the magnatiles are slightly stronger and I think they include purple but they both are pretty similar. They love them so much that we requested a second set for chanukkah as a gift from my grandma and got one with all kinds of crazy pieces -- little people, domes, curved pieces, doors and windows, castle top pieces, etc. Now we have 200 pieces and its a little harder to store becuase they dont all fit together in a stack due to the different shapes but they play with them every single day, create the most amazing things, and love it so much that I think they are worth it. I also know some people who do magnatiles and then supplement with shapmag accessories (if you search on amazon they sometimes call it magnetic stick n stack)
