Lovenox rash?
I posted this on the IF board last week but I have this really itchy rash by my injection site on my belly which I believe is either from Lovenox, or when I took Heparin for a few days, or maybe from these cheap bandaids I was using.
I went to the derm last week and he gave me hydrocortisone but the derm didnt even know what Lovenox was, or what kind of rash it is (not sure if that matters). Its getting itchier and itcheir by the day. I will go back to the derm tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone else has had this and what did you do to treat it?
I wonder if I should go to a different dermatologist.

I would talk to your blood dr or OB. I dont know, it sounds like it could be an allergic reaction. I have read from people on here about having an allergic reaction to Heparin. I took Lovenox up until recently and now I'm on Heparin and this has never happened.
Speak to the dr that put you on Lovenox and see what they think.

Also, are you rotating your injection sites? You shouldnt keep giving yourself the shot in one spot. I rotate right love handle, left love handle, right butt check, left..
If you're not rotating, maybe it's red and itchy from getting irritated?

My RE said he's seen it before but there's nothing he can do about it unless it spreads across my body. I went to the derm cuz I couldnt stand the itching anymore.
I've only ever injected it into my belly. I dont know about injecting it into other sites but I will ask the RE when I see him tomorrow.

Right, but you shouldnt inject in the same spot on your belly. Just rotate around your belly. I moved to my love handles and butt because my belly would bruise soooooo bad! My Doctors all said any area with fat is fine to inject.
Sorry it's itching so much! Never had that issue with it. Hope it gets better!!

I didnt know I could inject it in other spots- I'm going to check with him tomorrow. Im scared to inject it into my butt or love handles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For me, it's a million times better!! I dont even bruise (once in a while and it will be a small dot). My husband injects them into my butt, makes it easier.

I never got a rash from lovenox, but I did go all over my belly and on my love handle areas when I did the injections. You can also do them in the thigh if you need to. Definitely do not do the same spot every day. I would switch sides each day.
Why were you using bandaids? Do you still have the itchy rash? I get really irritated from bandaids, like little tiny bumps that itch like crazy.

I was using bandaids cuz the heparin was making me bleed. Thanks, I'm going to look into switching. I'm an itchy madman
