Love the pediatrician, hate the practice... WWYD?

Ok, hate is a strong word. We go to a very large practice, about 8 or 9 doctors. Our main pediatrician is FANTASTIC!!! We love love love everything about her and she is 1000% everything we would ever want in a ped. But that's about where it ends. Here's what I don't like about the practice:
-Several of the office staff can be rude and have attitudes.
-They don't have separate "well" and "sick" waiting room, just one big room.
-They have no weekend hours other than 9-12 on Saturday mornings for sick visits only.
-In our over 2 years going to this practice, we have only seen our doctor for maybe 2 or 3 sick visits (and we've had a lot!). We always see her for well visits though. My husband and I have a joke that she doesn't really work there because we really only see her when we schedule it ahead of time!
-We don't really love any of the other doctors. They're all very nice and seem like good doctors, we just don't really click with them as well, and disagree with some of their philosophies/approaches.

So... WWYD?

I also go to a large practice and see on main ped. I like some of the other doctors better than others, but I trust them all. That was important to me. If my DD has an emergency, I need to be able to rely the others. If you can't say the same... RUN!

I really like our practice and 2 of the 3 doctors. I found out the schedule of our favorite doctor (mornings/afternoons ect) so when I make a sick appt I know which time slot to select so that I can see my favorite doctor. Our office doesn't let you make an appt with a doctor- you just request which doctor you want when you get in the waiting room.

Unfortunately what you described for sick visits seems to ring true for most practices with a few doctors. Not being able to see my main ped for a sick visit is pretty common unless she has an oPening. I don't expect to see her but I always ask for her first. But I have also liked the other drs that we have seen. I would rather my ped but for a sick visit I just want dd better

Now the staff part is what gets me. We have been to 3 practices over the past 2 years b/c of moving and all the staffs have been wonderful and very helpful. Unfortunately alot of times they set the tone of the office. It's very unfortunate.

Chances are you will find another ped that you love.

You are in a large practice but really only like 1 doc there. To me that outweighs the benefit of being in a large practice. If you are not happy with every doctor there it just isn't worth it. Office staff is a big one to me and unless I absolutely loved all the docs I would look for a new practice.
When ds was born we were in a huge practice. 5 minutes after I walked in I knew it was not for me. I switched to a sole practitioner and am so happy. Never wait for appts and everyone there, from the office staff to the doc, knows us. So happy I made the switch.

I switched from a large practice to a single dr. I couldn't stand always seeing someone new at each appt. I found that they were all giving different advice about the same subject. I love having one dr knows me and dd by name. Knows my daughters history without looking through her file.

Our ped is just him and an NP.
I'm not a fan of huge practices.
I like to know who my children are going to see.
