Lot sizes

So when I look on MLSI in Nassau it says the lot size as follows:

for example 40x100 or 60x100 etc

What is the dimension? Feet? 40 feet x 100 feet?

Whereas for Suffolk county it has a a part of an acre .. 0.25 acre etc.

I want to compare one to another so I guess I need dimensions and then I guess I can convert one to another.

My lot is 100x125 and it is 0.287 of an acre...... So 12,500 square feet = 0.287.

Also - in Nassau if you know the exact address you can look it up on www.mynassauproperty.com and get the exact acreage.

My guess is unless it's a significant piece of land, at least a 1/4 acre (which is 100x100), they just list square footage - 40x100, for example.

43,560 sf = 1 acre

so if lot size is 100x100 = 10,000 sf

10,000 sf / 43,560 = .23 acre
