My headaches are taking over my life lately. Last week I had a headache 6 out of 7 days and told DH I just can't do it. The thought of sesame place with a headache makes meChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon !!! So he agreed and said we will hit the Bronx Zoo NY Auarium and Museum of Natural History. This way if I wake up with a headache I can just hang with Andrew while DH takes Teddy.

Re: Looks Like Sesame Place is Out this weekend

I do have migraines, I have been on Imatrex for years. But I try to limit my use of it because it causes the strangest side effects (All migraine meds do). It makes me feel as though my throat is closing. It almost sends me into a panic mode because it makes me feel as though I have limited breathing. So the headache has to be pretty bad for me to take it. Also I have never had headaches with this frequency. Which is why I have a CT scan the 14th of sept. They also think it could be part of the thyroid with a metabolic imbalance. (All of these words make me dizzy). So hopefully this weekend we'll have some answers about the thyroid. (PS They are doing the CT scan because my grandfather died of a brain anurism (SP?) It's something (the only thing) my mother and I have in common.

Are you taking tylenol or anything? I get migraines too, have since I was 5. When I get them back to back to back like that, its usually a rebound headache from taking too much excedrin, tylenol or advil, or whatever it may be.

I got rebound headaches a few years ago! Usually I'll take three advil liquid gels! Sometimes it helps sometimes its worse! The only thing that actually helps is laying in a room with no noise (practically impossible @ my house), no lights, and an ice pack on my head! Sometimes a nap helps sometimes he hurts!!!

I have been on every medication under the sun and the either do nothing, or I hate the side effects, so its the same for me, I just take an excedrin and lay in a dark room with an ice pack as well. Honestly, an ice pack is the best remedy Ive found. Try a gatorade too, sometimes those help. Ive also started taking a 100mg magnesium citrate supplement which is shown to help migraine sufferers bc its believed we tend to have lower magnesium levels. It seems to be helping, but it could just be a coincidence.

Either way, its sucks.......Im sorry, feel better!

stress doesnt help thats for sure.

I hope you find something that can help. when i was about 10 or so she was hospitalized b/c they thought she was having an aneruysm. Scary sh**..

good luck and feel better!

I have to agree Melissa when my electrolite's go down it will cause what I call a slammer headache where it comes on so fast I can barely breath. So gatorade is a great resolution to it. Have you noticed that they never full go away until the next day (if I'm lucky)?? They may subside but they are still present? A couple years ago I realized that I had quite a few triggers....Chinese Food, Fast Food, Mountain Dew, and DARK Chocolate are all triggers for me. I am not sure if I have formed a new trigger but I really feel like I am at a dead end street here.

I agree with the magnesum supplements!
Also Melatonin at night (the natural sleep supplement) has been shown to reduce mirgraines.
By taking both, I have reduced the frequency and severity of my migraines.
It might be worth a shot!

I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with so much pain. I have had migraines since I was 21 and at times they were so bad that I had them every day. I even had to be on disability for 6 weeks bc i could no longer function. Honestly, I was scared to have a child bc I feared that I would be too incapacitated by pain to be a good mom.

I definitely suggest you see a neurologist and if you already do, see another one (i can recommend one i loved). A neurologist can prescribe a medication that will work as a preventative to hopefully get the migraines under control. I tried so many different ones and endured so many side effects just hoping ot find the one that would work. Eventually a medictaion did help.

Imitrex makes me feel horrible (my throat and chest hurt, etc) but I was taking Frova which has a longer half-life and it worked well for me.

Chat Icon I know you live near (i live in baldwin) so if you need something or want the name of the neurologist just FM me.

Sorry you are feeling so miserable - but beware of the zoo & aquarium on the 4th & 5th - those are Bank of America free days (as in show your bank card or CC and get in free) - so it will be a mob scene. The absolute last thing you want if you suffer from migraines. I would hate to have the crowds trigger something.

Tiff, so sorry to hear!!! I used to suffer from migraines alllll the time and was on Immitrex and even Topamax. I used to take Advil every single day, all day long before I started seeing a neurologist and he told me that the Advil might be *causing* some of them since I took so much. I hope you feel better!
