Looking to move to new town...best way to research schools?
We are looking to move sometime in the next year to a new town. What is the best way to do research on schools and stuff about a town you are not all that familiar with?
I know it's a good and desirable town to live in - but just want to check out the different schools since we literally know nothing.

If you look on mlsli.com, there is school information provided. Other good sources are www.greatschools.org, www.longislandschools.com, and newsday.
I assumed you are looking to move to a town on Long Island, but even ifyou are not, greatschools.org is a national site.

thanks for this info...I'm actually not looking on LI....we are looking in CT. Thanks for the info - I will check out greatschools.org

Also think about contacting the school district and make an appointment to walk around a building with the principal. My principal does this all the time. They will be informative, and you will learn a lot about a school from observation.
