Looking in the mirror ...

... is such a crap shoot these days!

Half the time I look, I am overwhelmingly happy. I think about how excited and blessed I am about baby girl and how much I can't wait for her to get here.

The other half (like just now), I look in the mirror and all I see is that I am now the size of a small house. I have no idea how I can possibly get bigger from here (I am 28w) yet I know I will! It just doesn't seem possible - and it CERTAINLY seems scary.

Anyone else go through these highs and lows? I guess I should be happy that sometimes, looking in the mirror is a positive thing. Blah!

I've only gained 18 lbs at 31+ weeks and still feel exactly like you do. I look in the mirror and cannot possibly imagine getting any bigger! We're all in the home stretch now and all of this "growth" is for a worthy cause (and most will go away in no time once the babies are here). I'm sure you look beautiful too! We're always the hardest on ourselves.

I have been having the same experience. Some days I look in the mirror and am so amazed by what I see. I can't believe there is a baby in there and that my body can do this. Sometimes I can even convince myself the belly is cute. Other days (which are much more common), I just look in the mirror and cant believe how big I am and that I am going to get bigger! I think I look awful.

I am 27 weeks, so maybe it is just this point in the pregnancy?

Yes!!! I completely know how you feel. After gaining nearly 35 lbs (I'm 31 weeks btw) I'm horrified. I never want to look in the mirror. I don't even understand how I've gained so much! I feel gross and I hate the way I look lately. Makeup has been doing wonders for me too! Lol

Re: Looking in the mirror ...

At 28 weeks, I thought I could get no bigger. I was wrong. I tend to look at myself in high mirrors or from the front.

Sometimes I pick up my shirt and stare at my stomach, from the side, in amazement. That is the address where my son sleeps, eats and plays with his umbilical cord! Kind of cool. I'm just giving him enough room to be slightly comfortable. I can deal.
