Re: Looking for seafood recipes...

LOL
Not a lot of people at all....maybe 8...but since it's me doing all the work, with 2 kids, & a hubby working the 23rd, ...I want a dish I can preferably prep prior?

& I like heavy appetizers & wanted to do a salad, soup, bread....
I was thinking shrimp, that's pretty affordable.

(I'm not a crab or muscle person.)

I'm good with following a recipe. Just blanking on anything more than a marinara/linguini.

Re: Looking for seafood recipes...

A shrimp parm can probably be frozen ahead of time. I'd bread the shrimp and then assemble it that day.

A cod chowder? Gordon Ramsey has a great recipe, and that can be made a day ahead of time.

Fish is tricky to make ahead of time.

Re: Looking for seafood recipes...

I didn't think I'd be able to cook the fish before, cause overcooked fish...YUCKY! But cutting veggies, herbs, etc I all for & then cook day of. So I'm looking for ideas. I really wanted to do courses not just family style.....but at this point, I'm open to what's easiest!!!

what about white clam sauce over pasta?

mini salmon burgers? i know they can be prepared a head of time. You an cook the salmon the day before then form the burger. before you are ready just cook.

shrimp scampi takes such little time to make. or a shrimp coctail ring

what about a seafood quiche or lasagna, seafood salad, lobster mac & cheese?

baked clams are good to prepare ahead of time. I love shrimp scampi for an easy main dish.

Re: Looking for seafood recipes...

I make a very good linguini & clam sauce, so I mentioned that to the hubby ( it's his fav too).

I am making a crab dip that everyone loves.

Lobster Mac n cheese....I'd LOVE a recipe for that, even better if I could bake it in individual ramicans! That would be pretty!

Lobster ravioli I thought might be nice, if I can get a sauce recipe.

I dont have a scampi recipe, but that would be nice, otherwise shrimp cocktail.

That's why I'm hoping people can post recipes of their favorites!Chat Icon

Here's my recipe for Shrimp Scampi (I am using approximations here as I am an eyeball and to taste cook):

For 8 people, I would get about 2 lbs shrimp.

I bake my scampi but some do it stovetop.

Place shrimp in oven safe casserole, throw in finely chopped garlic (I use a lot), fresh chopped parsley, grind of salt, fresh cracked black pepper. Dot with butter, about 1/4 cup olive oil, hot red pepper flakes, splash of white wine, and a squeeze of lemon. Bake at 375 degrees until shrimp are pink, but not quite done yet, add some bread crumbs on top and bake another 5 - 10 mins until topping is golden brown.

crab cakes... they can be formed the day before and then just quickly fried the day of, then warmed in the oven before serving.

Baked clams - can be made the day before and cooked before serving

shrimp scampi or marinara - so so easy and cooks super quick!

Wow - I've never done it that way - I make a butter/garlic/oil sauce on the stove then cook the shrimp in that. I'll have to try your way! Probably less babysitting.

Mmmmmm, that looks good, and can be prep per prior to assembly & cook!

Anyone have any good crab cake recipes?

I don't know if I can get ahold of fresh clams, so I'm intimidated making them for the 1st time. Are they hard?
